Who am I, and why should you work with me?
Hi there! My name is Antoine Clerc-Renaud (Tony, for my English-speaking friends out there), and I’m the one-man army behind Synergy SEO. For now, I have enough time and energy to want to do it all myself.
Also, I’m genuinely passionate about this industry, so I want to work and become better at it. I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of a great group of SEO professionals on Facebook, which makes it even more fun and interesting.
So, working with me to have a better online presence means you are supporting a growing local business and allowing me to do my best through our collaboration. You will also benefit from the latest techniques and software in the field and help me build an in-house tool to be even better.
How did I become an SEO professional?
In terms of professional experience, I’ve been doing websites and SEO in one form or another since the summer of 2013, when I launched Retrogamer.ca (sadly disabled since then) with a friend. We didn’t really know what we were doing, but we were happy enough to have an outlet to express ourselves and share our passion for ancient relics of the video game world. This is where I learned the importance of meta tags, page structure, and other basic SEO techniques.
Fast forward to the end of 2016, and I’m part of the team at Jeux.ca, a website about games of all kinds (video games, board games, tabletop role-playing games, esports). I discovered the importance of keyword research and competition analysis. By the end of the project in 2022, I had access to actual SEO tools such as SEMrush and Frase. And I had learned about Entities and LSI, the various factors search engines take into consideration, and the list goes on. This is how we managed to bring a consistent 100,000 users to the website, month after month.
I was also lucky enough to work for a small but relevant SEO agency for a year and a half. This is where I learned the minute details that make all the difference in search engine optimization. I was also privileged to witness the rise of AI tools back in November 2022 and how they transformed our day-to-day job, making it far easier and faster. But at the same time, I quickly learned their limitations and bias and that I was better off using them as new tools in my belt rather than a do-it-all magic solution, which they are not.
